At the end of the year 2017 a number of 214 Romanian Ph.D. students and 12 foreign Ph.D. students were registered in the doctorate study programs ”System Engineering” (SE) and ”Computers and Information Technology” (CIT) which are organized in the Doctoral school of Automatic Control and Computers (SD_AC). From this total, 93 Ph.D. students work out theses in the SE domain, and 133 Ph.D. students in the CIT domain.

Since the founding in 2012 of the SD_AC there have been publicly defended 151 theses by Romanian Ph.D. students and 13 theses by foreign students during 2012-2017. From the total of 164 defended theses, 80 were in the SE domain and 84 in the CIT domain. 10 doctoral these have been realized in double coordination with scientific directors from foreign universities.

All the 164 theses publicly defended in this period have been validated by the CNATDCU specialty commission granting doctor titles at national level in the SE and CIT domains; thus the percentage of obtaining the doctor title after public defence was 100%. For both SE and CIT domains all Ph.D. titles were granted by the CNATDCU commission without any delay or request to extend the theses.

The yearly distribution of the public defences is:
