Ph.D. admission

The Doctoral school of Automatic Control and Computers (SD_AC) within the University Politehnica of Bucharest (UPB) organises annually examinations for Ph.D. admission in the domains ”System Engineering” (SE) and ”Computers and Information Technology” (CIT) for Romanian and foreign candidates, according to a methodology which is annually revised by the UPB Senate.

In the period 2012-2016 there have been admitted for doctoral studies 174 candidates, from which 159 Romanian and 15 foreign students. 99 candidates have been admitted in the doctorate domain CIT and 75 candidates in the doctorate domain SE. For 158 Ph.D. students the funding is from the budget of the Ministry of National Education, whereas 16 candidates have been admitted with fee payment.

For the academic year 2016-2017 there have been admitted 52 candidates in the two examination sessions (July and September 2016), 48 of them of Romanian nationality and 4 from foreign countries. 30 Ph.D. students have been inscribed in the CIT doctorate domain and 22 candidates in the SE doctorate domain. For 43 candidates the funding of their doctorate study is covered from the budget of the Ministry of National Education, whereas 9 Ph.D. students pay fees.

For the academic year 2017-2018 there have been admitted 46 Romanian candidates in the two examination sessions (July and September 2017), and 2 foreign candidates from non-UE countries (Tunis and Nigeria) according to the specific SD_AC methodology. There have been admitted in total 19 Ph.D. students in the System Engineering domain and 29 Ph.D. students in the Computers and Information Technology domain. 46 candidates have been admitted in doctoral programs funded from the national budget, and 2 candidates pay doctoral fees.

For the academic year 2018-2019 there have been admitted 52 Romanian candidates in the two examination sessions (July and September 2018), and 7 foreign candidates from foreign countries. There have been admitted in total 22 Ph.D. students in the System Engineering domain and 37 Ph.D. students in the Computers and Information Technology domain. 54 candidates have been admitted in doctoral programs funded from the national budget, and 56 candidates pay doctoral fees.

For the academic year 2019-2020 there have been admitted 51 Romanian candidates in the two examination sessions (July and September 2019), and 6 foreign candidates from foreign countries. There have been admitted in total 21 Ph.D. students in the System Engineering domain and 36 Ph.D. students in the Computers and Information Technology domain. 52 candidates have been admitted in doctoral programs funded from the national budget, and 5 candidates pay doctoral fees. 28 candidates have been admitted with scholarship.
